A Season of Intermission: How To Position Yourself in Troubling Times

I had been enjoying myself right till that point:

I gave my life to Jesus some time ago, and I really enjoyed that decision… Whenever I asked God for a thing, he gave me exactly when I wanted it. I was favored wherever I went, and there was this peace I began to feel the moment I decided to accept Jesus. This peace was the most enjoyable of my experiences, but suddenly a stop!!! The answers to my prayers still came, but it took so much longer. The peace I also mentioned remained, but all around me, there was turmoil. Everybody seemed to be against me, and worst of all I am beginning to feel attracted to my neighbor Evelyn. I am so tired of praying. Reading the word feels like a hurdle. Is this pause ever going to end?

Many times when Christians face this pause, we tend to give up. We give up because we do not understand what is happening during that season. This season comes at the point of breakthrough, or after breakthrough, and can be defined as the “”season of intermission.

What is a season of intermission?

It is a period in which a believer is comes against many trials and temptations. This season doesn’t have a timeframe to it, and can stretch for as long as God wills it, but it usually comes before or after a believer experiences major victory.

Whereas many give up during this season. You ought not to. This season is a time to intensify consistency, to yield more, and to continue in your obedience to God. Never take a break.

The devil is only potent when you are asleep. He can only plant his seed when men sleep (Matthew 13:25). He is only, and so this season is not a time to sleep (relent in your walk with God), but to keep seeking after God.

These are two examples of Bible characters that also experienced the season of intermission

1). Daniel.

He faced this season before he experienced a breakthrough.

2) Elijah.

He faced this season after a breakthrough. Brethren, this is not a time to lose hope. It is a time to recharge. A time to seek God for strength. “
