In the modern church, a subtle anomaly has crept in, undermining the depth of our faith and eroding its essence. This erosion calls for a profound revival anchored in the truth of God’s Word. It centers on a distortion of the gospel message, one that places the believer and their needs at the forefront of the Christian faith.
Let me clarify – it’s not that believers are unimportant in God’s eternal purpose, or that our needs are insignificant. They matter greatly. The problem arises when we perceive ourselves as the primary focus of God’s actions, overshadowing His own divine will fulfilled in Christ.
God, the Eternal One, had an original purpose from the dawn of creation. He intended for humanity, both male and female, to govern the earth and uphold His divine order. Yet, the adversary of all things good and godly deceived humanity, leading to our fall from glory and dominion. We became prisoners to our desires, oppressed by the devil, estranged from God’s original plan.
This fall from grace deviated from God’s eternal purpose, both in the destruction of humanity and the forfeiture of dominion. To reclaim His divine intent, God initiated the process of redemption, culminating in the birth of Jesus Christ. This divine lineage, born of the Spirit, comprises a new kind of humanity, the second Adam, tasked with restoring God’s original design without the destruction of mankind. This happens through faith and the acceptance of new life.
Our focus, however, must shift back to God’s primary purpose. While we indeed benefit from our salvation in various ways, our primary mission as believers is to ensure that God’s eternal purpose in Christ is fulfilled. This involves proclaiming the gospel, drawing people to God through faith, and establishing dominion over the devil’s works through divine wisdom and power.
Our call, faith, salvation, and prosperity revolve around this singular purpose. None of these blessings are meant for our self-indulgence; they exist to channel divine energy into fulfilling God’s purpose in Christ. Our lives should be spent for this objective, lest God’s grace within us remains untapped.
In essence, as believers, we must live solely to make Christ known and glorified. All other pursuits are secondary. It’s akin to buying a car – the purpose isn’t just to take pictures with it but to use it for its intended function.
Fulfilling God’s eternal purpose isn’t confined to a pulpit ministry; it’s about daily living in alignment with the Holy Spirit’s guidance, which now resides within us. Any resistance to His leading diminishes God’s original plan for our salvation.
Consider the example of the apostle Paul, who willingly sacrificed personal rights and privileges for the sake of the gospel. Christ Himself, the epitome of glory, denied himself for God’s will. This is the ultimate calling of our faith, trusting that denying ourselves doesn’t diminish our prosperity and glory but enhances it.
Today, let’s reevaluate our focus, ensuring that Christ, His character, and His truth-sharing take precedence over our comfort and self-interest. Any self-denial necessary for God’s purpose should be met with unwavering commitment.
May we keep our focus on living daily for God’s will as our primary goal. And when we surrender to His purpose, His grace will carry us through.Your brother in Christ,The Sower
